The founders of three promising local businesses will participate in the 2019 LBD Forum and workshop on September 25-26, through scholarship grants courtesy of Takaful Brunei, the country’s leading Islamic insurance company.
Over two days, chief representatives of BenchLab, Nextacloud Technologies, and Filterworks Productions will immerse in training on digital business strategy and business transformation delivered by subject matter experts, acclaimed entrepreneurs and experienced practitioners from Brunei and abroad.
Under the banner ‘How to Leverage the Digital Revolution,’ the 2019 LBD Forum on September 25 will bring together 200 business figures, corporate executives, and government officials to discuss the business landscape in the digital age, competing and winning as digitisation becomes the new normal, and how to be resilient in the face of this unstoppable transformation.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, as guest of honour, will deliver the opening keynote address on Brunei Darussalam’s journey towards a Smart Nation and the benefits this journey will bring to business and society.
His insights will be followed by perspectives on the different topics from knowledgeable speakers from Brunei and abroad. These include Robert Schaffner, an author and expert on digital transformation; Dato’ Ghazali bin Dato’ Mohd Yussoff, Chairman of Nusantara Technologies, a powerful speaker on developing a positive mindset; and Dayu Dara Permata, Co-Founder of Go-Jek and CEO of Go-Life, Indonesia’s first ‘unicorn’ – a privately held start-up venture now valued at over USD9 billion.
These visiting speakers will be joined by a group of Bruneian speakers and panellists, including local business founders who are creatively addressing challenges in health, education, transportation and human resource management.
On the following day, concurrent 2019 LBD workshops will train the Takaful scholars and other participants in two areas: Workshop 1 on Digital Strategy to Transform Your Business will be led by Robert Schaffner, and Workshop 2 on ‘Customer Experience for the Business of the Future’ will be led by Santha Atmalingam, a customer experience thought leader, speaker, and trainer with more than 20 years of experience in advising large and small enterprises and corporations across Southeast Asia.
In awarding the certificates of scholarship to the recipients at Takaful Brunei headquarters, Executive Officer, Marketing Unit under Corporate Services Department Nazmi bin Haji Souyono remarked, “Takaful Brunei is committed to developing entrepreneurship in the country, and we are pleased to support these entrepreneurs in their pursuit for growth. The 2019 LBD Forum and Workshop will be a good opportunity to improve their skills in very specific areas of business.”
